Fight Your Fear

I recently graduated from Towson University in May of 2019. If you asked someone close to me before college if I was ready to make a career choice they would have said no! This was the same while in college. Towson University provided a plethora of career fairs, career counseling, and many other helpful resources while I was there. Unfortunately, I didn’t use any of those resources to my advantage, but I wish I had.

I believe I didn’t take the opportunity because of fear. Fear is one of the biggest obstacles in my life. Whether it be based on career, education, family, and personal life/opinions. I let fear hold me back from utilizing the resources Towson offered that assisted with career preparedness and I am currently letting fear hold me back from going back for a Master’s degree. I let fear hold me back from connecting with family members and people close to me. Fear runs my life.

However, I am working on this. The main change I have made to help me with my fear, and one that I suggest to others, is to be aware of these issues you hold deep inside. If you are not aware that you have this large obstacle in your way, or refuse to acknowledge it, how are you supposed to get around it? Go ahead and be honest with yourself about what causes you to not take the next step and prepare yourself to fulfill your dreams. Find ways to help yourself overcome the obstacles that you create for yourself, because if we’re honest with ourselves, we are the only ones standing in our way to seek happiness and achieve our dreams. While, I have not overcome my fear it is something I am working on. I encourage everyone to work on themselves and if you’re like me, fight your fear.

And while you do this listen to inspirational music like this!
