1: Research in Action Series

Research in Action Issue 1

Highlights the importance of connecting mentoring research to practice and policy to increase the impact of youth mentoring. The foundation of each issue is an article written by a leading scholar who summarizes the latest research and offers insight into the implications of that research on mentoring practice. The implications based on their findings are then expanded into tools, activities, resources, or training exercises in the Action section, providing practitioners with a concrete application of the research findings in their everyday operations.

Each issue concludes with a list of additional Resources on the topic.

2: The Mentoring Effect

Executive Summary

The Mentoring Effect is a compelling report informed by the first-ever nationally representative survey of young people on the topic of both informal and formal mentoring, as well as a literature and landscape review and insights from a variety of key leaders in business, philanthropy, government, and education.The report was commissioned by MENTOR: The National Mentoring Partnership with support from AT&T, and written by Civic Enterprises in partnership with Hart Research.

EY and MENTOR: The National Mentoring Partnership (MENTOR) together released a report “Mentoring: at the crossroads of education, business and community.” The report examines how top US businesses collaborate with the public and non-profit sectors to connect youth in their communities to transformative mentoring relationships and the value gained by the business and its employees.
